Financial Options

Many women experiencing domestic violence and abuse believe or have been told by the perpetrator that they have no options or alternatives. This simply isn’t true. There are a number of things that you are entitled to, including a basic income for yourself and your children.

For information about your income entitlements, we recommend that you contact your local Citizens Information Service, or your local DEASP representative (formerly known as Community Welfare Officer) can advise you of the many different financial supports appropriate to your situation for example there are various payments for working families, single parent families and rent supplements among others.

Making an application for a Maintenance Order may be important when applying to the Department of Social Protection for One Parent Family Payment. Maintenance order.
